The Dojo Lives!
In 2014, Native Son opened in downtown Santa Ana with the goal of offering the best selection of craft beer we could find in SoCal & boy did we find more than great beers! Over the past 8 years, we've established not just great relationships with new & old brewers alike, but with our local DTSA community. 2019 saw our first expansion with Native Son IE in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This time opening with a full liquor license, expanding our experience & selections for our always-interested & curious neighbors.
And then came the summer of 2022;
Enter The Dojo!
With craft beer as our roots we could not pass up on the opportunity to expand into our new Downtown location, the former home of the Modern Times "Dankness Dojo." We could not be more excited to share our craft beer & cocktail knowledge with you & our new DTLA community.

Modern Times Dankness Dojo was an incredible culmination of ambition, creativity and unbridled enthusiasm. As friends and customers of Modern Times Beer Co., we at Native Son watched them grow and expand unlike any other brewery of the late 2010s and we cheered them on. We loved their beer, their branding and their outstanding team of wizards, mages, and overlords.
We have always loved the atmosphere and feel of the Dojo and want to preserve its unique style. We are excited to use the exquisite 10bbl brew house to showcase our point of view of craft beer. The kitchen will continue to produce delicious food, and include weekend brunch and non-vegan options. Our goal is to reopen later this year, and cannot wait to have you over for a pint!
We reopened the doors to the Dojo on November 4th, 2022 with a blowout party with old & new friends from Downtown & LA. The Native Son team is excited to continue to meet everyone that comes through the doors to enjoy some of LA’s best available beers, wines, seltzers, & ciders. We can’t wait to see you at the new Native Son in DTLA!
